What are veterinary medicines?

A veterinary medicine is a finished product for animals: an active ingredient made into a dose that can be given to cattle, poultry, sheep, goats, horses or pets, then packed and labelled for sale. It treats or prevents disease, controls parasites, or supports growth and health. It is different from an API, the raw active ingredient, and from an animal feed.

Progene Pharma supplies veterinary medicines to importers, distributors, farm suppliers and veterinary pharmacies outside India. Most are made to the same pharmacopoeia standards as medicines for people, with labels that name the animal, the dose and the withdrawal period, and they are usually registered with the ministry of agriculture or livestock rather than the health regulator.

Quality you can register

Regulators judge a medicine by where it is made, how it is tested and how it holds up on the shelf.

  • Certified facility

Progene Pharma manufactures every product in a WHO-GMP certified facility, also certified to EU-GMP and ISO, matched to the standard your authority accepts. What each standard means

  • Pharmacopoeia specifications

Made and tested to the British Pharmacopoeia (Veterinary), the United States (USP), European (Ph. Eur.) or Indian (IP) Pharmacopoeia, whichever your registration names.

  • Tested before release

  • Labels that meet the rules

Cartons and leaflets carry the animal species, the dose, the storage conditions and the withdrawal period, in the language your authority requires.

Documents for registration

Prepared in the format your regulator expects and sent before the first shipment, so you can register the product while it is being made.

What are veterinary medicines?

They are finished medicines for animals, such as boluses, injections, oral liquids and water-soluble powders, made from an active ingredient and ready to be packed, registered and sold. They are different from APIs, which are the raw active ingredients, and from animal feed.

Which animals do your veterinary medicines treat?

Cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, poultry, horses and pets such as dogs and cats. Each product is labelled for the animals it is registered for, with the dose and the withdrawal period.

Can you make a veterinary product that is not on your list?

Yes. Progene Pharma does custom manufacturing, so we can make any veterinary formulation that is approved in your country, including new strengths, combinations and dosage forms, or a copy of a reference product you name. Send us the details and we will confirm what is needed.

Which dosage forms can you manufacture?

Boluses and tablets, liquid injections in vials, oral solutions and suspensions, water-soluble powders, feed supplements and premixes, and topical ointments and sprays.

Do you offer private label for veterinary products?

Yes. Progene Pharma manufactures under your brand name, with your artwork, language and pack size, and supplies the documents to register the product in your country.

Which documents do you provide for registration?

Progene Pharma provides a COA with every batch, a registration dossier in the format your veterinary authority asks for, the facility's GMP certificate, a Free Sale Certificate where required, MSDS, and samples for registration testing. Rules differ by country, so tell us your authority and we will confirm what applies.

Who registers veterinary medicines?

Usually the ministry of agriculture, livestock or veterinary services, not the health regulator, and the product is registered to a licensed local company such as the importer or distributor. Rules differ by country, so check with your authority.

What is the minimum order quantity?

It depends on the product, the dosage form and the packaging. We work with large importers and tender suppliers as well as smaller distributors, and confirm the minimum quantity with your quotation.
