About amoxicillin

What it treats

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria, such as infections of the chest, ears, nose and throat, urinary tract and skin, and some dental infections. It does not work on viruses, so it is not used for colds or flu. It is on the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines.

How it works

Amoxicillin stops bacteria from building their cell walls, which kills them or stops them multiplying. It is well absorbed when taken by mouth, which is why it is so widely used in clinics and pharmacies, and it comes in forms children can take.

How it is taken

The dose and the length of the course depend on the infection and on the patient's age and weight, and the course should always be completed. The dry syrup is made up with water for children who cannot swallow capsules. Penicillins are not suitable for people allergic to them. Patients should always follow the approved leaflet and the advice of their doctor or pharmacist.

Which strengths of amoxicillin do you supply?

Capsules of 250 mg and 500 mg, dispersible tablets of 125 mg and 250 mg, and dry syrups of 125 mg and 250 mg per 5 ml. Pack sizes and labelling are made to match the registration in your country.

Can you supply it under our own brand?

Yes. Progene Pharma manufactures it as a private label product, with the carton, blister foil or bottle label and patient leaflet designed for your market and your regulator's requirements.

Is amoxicillin a prescription medicine?

In most countries, yes. Antibiotics are sold with a prescription and registered with the national medicines regulator. Rules differ by country, so check with your authority.

Are penicillin products made in a dedicated area?

Yes. GMP requires penicillins to be made in dedicated, separate areas to prevent cross-contamination, and the facility's documents show how. Tell us your authority and we will confirm which documents apply.

Which documents come with it?

Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Progene Pharma also provides the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP), MSDS and the product dossier you need to register and import it.

Where is it manufactured?

Progene Pharma manufactures it in a WHO-GMP certified facility in India, also certified to EU-GMP and ISO standards. Tell us your destination country and we will confirm which certification applies to your order.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

Both depend on the strength, pack size and documents your market needs. We confirm them with your quotation, and we work with large importers as well as smaller distributors.
