What is private label pharmaceutical manufacturing?
Private label manufacturing means a manufacturer makes a medicine and you sell it under your own brand. You own the brand name and the packaging design, and usually the registration in your country. Progene Pharma manufactures the product, tests every batch and supplies the documents that prove its quality.
It is also called third-party manufacturing, contract manufacturing or white label. Whatever the name, the result is the same: a registered medicine with your name on it, without the cost and years it takes to build and certify a factory.
Who uses private label
Any company that wants its own range of medicines, rather than reselling someone else's brand.
-
Distributors and importers
Build a brand you own, with better margins than reselling and no risk of losing a product when a supplier's agreement ends.
-
Pharmacy chains
Offer a house brand of everyday generics, priced below the leading brands and only on your shelves.
-
Tender suppliers
Supply government and hospital tenders with products registered in your company's name.
-
New pharmaceutical companies
Launch a range quickly, while you build sales, without investing in manufacturing.
-
Hospital and healthcare groups
Secure a steady supply of the medicines you use most, in packs made for your wards and dispensaries.
-
NGOs and health programmes
Branded or programme-labelled packs for malaria, HIV, tuberculosis, maternal health and other programmes.
You own the brand. We make the medicine.

What is private label pharmaceutical manufacturing?
A manufacturer makes a medicine and you sell it under your own brand. You own the brand and packaging design, and usually the registration in your country, while the manufacturer makes and tests the product and supplies the quality documents.
What is the difference between private label and white label?
The terms are often used for the same thing. Strictly, white label means an existing product with your label on it, while private label can also mean a product made to your own specification. We offer both.
Who owns the brand and the product registration?
You own the brand name and your pack design. In most countries the registration is held by your company as the local licence holder, with Progene Pharma named as the manufacturer.
Can you design the packaging for us?
Yes. Progene Pharma can design the cartons, labels and leaflets from your brand guidelines, or print from your own artwork files. Either way, we check the regulatory text and you approve a proof before printing.
What is private label artwork, and who approves it?
Artwork is the design of your carton, blister foil, label and leaflet, with your brand and the regulatory text your authority requires. We prepare it, or adapt your files, and check every line against your registration. You approve a final proof before anything is printed.
What is the minimum order quantity for private label?
It depends on the product and the packaging, because printed cartons and foils have their own minimum runs. We confirm the minimum quantity with your quotation and work with smaller distributors as well as large importers.
How long does it take to launch a private label product?
Artwork usually takes a few weeks. Registration is the longest step and varies by country, from a few months to more than a year. Once registered, we confirm the production and shipping schedule with each order.
Will you keep our brand and formula confidential?
Yes. Progene Pharma uses your brand, artwork, formula and pricing only for your orders, and we sign a non-disclosure agreement on request.
Do you offer private label for the Indian market?
No. Progene Pharma's private label service is for export only. We supply brand owners, distributors and importers outside India.
