About capecitabine
What it treats
Capecitabine is an oral chemotherapy medicine that the body converts into fluorouracil in tumour tissue. It is used to treat cancers of the colon, rectum, breast and stomach, alone or with other treatments.
Why it is used
Patients take it as tablets at home in cycles instead of having an infusion, which reduces hospital visits and makes it an important part of cancer services, and generics have lowered the cost. Cancer medicines are prescribed and supervised by oncology specialists.
How it is taken
It is taken twice a day, within thirty minutes after a meal, for fourteen days followed by a rest week, with the dose set by body surface area. Common effects are diarrhoea, sore hands and feet, and mouth sores, and blood tests are done. It must not be combined with warfarin without monitoring, and it is not used in pregnancy. Patients should always follow the approved label and the prescriber's instructions in their country.

Questions about capecitabine
Something else? Email [email protected].
Which strengths of capecitabine do you supply?
Tablets of 150 mg and 500 mg. Other strengths can be made to order, and pack sizes and labelling are made to match the registration in your country.
Is capecitabine a prescription medicine?
In most countries, yes. It is sold with a prescription and registered with the national medicines regulator. Rules differ by country, so check with your authority.
Are cancer medicines made in a dedicated area?
Yes. GMP requires cytotoxic medicines to be made in dedicated, separate areas with controls to protect staff and prevent cross-contamination. The facility's documents show how, and each batch ships with its Certificate of Analysis. Tell us your authority and we will confirm which documents apply.
Can you supply it under our own brand?
Yes. Progene Pharma manufactures it as a private label product, with the carton, blister foil or label and patient leaflet designed for your market and your regulator's requirements.
Which documents come with it?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Progene Pharma also provides the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP), MSDS and the product dossier you need to register and import it.
Where is it manufactured?
Progene Pharma manufactures it in a WHO-GMP certified facility in India, also certified to EU-GMP and ISO standards. Tell us your destination country and we will confirm which certification applies to your order.
What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?
Both depend on the strength, pack size and documents your market needs. We confirm them with your quotation, and we work with large importers as well as smaller distributors.
