About ambroxol
What it treats
Ambroxol thins and loosens thick mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. It is used in bronchitis and other chest conditions with a productive cough.
Why it is widely sold
It is a staple in pharmacies across Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa, and is often sold with a bronchodilator such as salbutamol or with guaifenesin in combination syrups.
How it is taken
Tablets and syrup are taken two or three times a day after meals, with plenty of fluids. It can cause mild stomach upset and, rarely, skin reactions that need medical attention. It is not recommended in the first three months of pregnancy, and the label limits its use in very young children. Patients should always follow the approved label and the prescriber's instructions in their country.

Which strengths of ambroxol do you supply?
Tablets of 30 mg; syrups of 15 mg per 5 ml and 30 mg per 5 ml. Other strengths can be made to order, and pack sizes and labelling are made to match the registration in your country.
Can ambroxol be sold without a prescription?
That depends on the country and the pack. In many places it is sold over the counter, in others only on prescription, and it is registered with the national medicines regulator either way. Check with your authority.
Do you make combination cough syrups?
Yes. We make ambroxol with salbutamol and guaifenesin, among other combinations. Tell us the combination your market uses and we will confirm what we can supply.
Can you supply it under our own brand?
Yes. Progene Pharma manufactures it as a private label product, with the carton, blister foil or label and patient leaflet designed for your market and your regulator's requirements.
Which documents come with it?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Progene Pharma also provides the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP), MSDS and the product dossier you need to register and import it.
Where is it manufactured?
Progene Pharma manufactures it in a WHO-GMP certified facility in India, also certified to EU-GMP and ISO standards. Tell us your destination country and we will confirm which certification applies to your order.
What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?
Both depend on the strength, pack size and documents your market needs. We confirm them with your quotation, and we work with large importers as well as smaller distributors.
