About ibuprofen
What it treats
Ibuprofen relieves mild to moderate pain, such as headache, toothache, period pain, back pain and muscle and joint pain, brings down fever, and reduces inflammation in conditions like arthritis. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and it is on the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines.
How it differs from paracetamol
Paracetamol relieves pain and fever. Ibuprofen does both and also reduces inflammation, the swelling and stiffness that come with injuries and arthritis, so it is often chosen when inflammation is part of the problem. Ibuprofen can irritate the stomach, so it is taken with food.
How it is taken
The dose depends on age and weight, and it should be taken for the shortest time needed. The suspension gives children an accurate dose. It is not suitable for people with stomach ulcers, severe kidney problems or an allergy to NSAIDs. Patients should always follow the approved leaflet and the advice of their doctor or pharmacist.

Is ibuprofen sold without a prescription?
In many countries, yes, in lower strengths and small packs, while higher strengths need a prescription. Rules differ by country, so check with your authority. We supply the documents it asks for either way.

Which documents come with it?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Progene Pharma also provides the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP), MSDS and the product dossier you need to register and import it.
