About ondansetron
What it treats
Ondansetron prevents and treats nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, and is also used for severe vomiting from stomach infections and in pregnancy when other medicines fail. It is on the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines.
Why hospitals buy it
It is effective and acts quickly, as an injection for patients who cannot swallow and as a tablet for home use, so it is stocked in every oncology unit, theatre and emergency department, and widely sold in pharmacies.
How it is taken
Tablets are taken two or three times a day, the injection is given slowly by a healthcare professional, and the dose depends on the treatment. It can cause constipation and headache and, rarely, affect heart rhythm, so it needs care in people with heart problems or on certain other medicines. Patients should always follow the approved label and the prescriber's instructions in their country.

Which strengths of ondansetron do you supply?
