About oral rehydration salts
What they treat
Oral rehydration salts replace the water and salts lost in diarrhoea and vomiting, and prevent or treat dehydration. Zinc, given for ten to fourteen days, shortens the illness and lowers the chance of another attack in children. Together, ORS and zinc are the standard treatment for childhood diarrhoea recommended by the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
Why programmes buy them
They are very cheap, save lives, and can be given at home, so health ministries, NGOs and donors buy them by the million. Co-packs of ORS and zinc make it easy for caregivers to give both.
How they are used
One sachet is dissolved in one litre of clean water, and the child sips it after each loose stool, in the amount the label gives. Zinc tablets dissolve in a little water or breast milk. A baby who cannot drink, vomits everything, or has blood in the stool needs a doctor. Patients should always follow the approved label and the prescriber's instructions in their country.

That depends on the country and the pack. In many places it is sold over the counter, in others only on prescription, and it is registered with the national medicines regulator either way. Check with your authority.

Yes. We supply sachets and zinc tablets packed together or separately, with the documents tenders usually ask for. Send us the requirements and we will confirm what we can provide.
Can you supply it under our own brand?
Yes. Progene Pharma manufactures it as a private label product, with the carton, blister foil or label and patient leaflet designed for your market and your regulator's requirements.
Which documents come with it?
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Progene Pharma also provides the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP), MSDS and the product dossier you need to register and import it.
Where is it manufactured?
Progene Pharma manufactures it in a WHO-GMP certified facility in India, also certified to EU-GMP and ISO standards. Tell us your destination country and we will confirm which certification applies to your order.
